Guidance Every Step of the Way
These sessions often focus on common mental health challenges including treating depression, anxiety, self-esteem/self-image, ADHD, grief, life transitions, and many more.
LGBAIQ and Trans Affirming
For LGBAIQ individuals, sessions are often used to explore aspects of sexuality and emotions in relation to coming out and living your authentic life.
For transgender individuals, sessions are often used to explore aspects of gender identity and expression, processing emotions in relation to transition, exploring ways of integrating one's gender identity and expression, processing distress around an individual's sense of gender incongruence and/or possible body dysphoria, building resilience, and addressing readiness factors for individuals in need of medical gender affirming procedures (i.e. hormone therapy, and/or surgery).
We welcome all types of people with all types of relationships.
Trauma and PTSD
Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel a full range of emotions and experiences.
While there are no objective criteria to evaluate which events will cause post-trauma symptoms, circumstances typically involve the loss of control, betrayal, abuse of power, helplessness, pain, confusion and/or loss. The event need not rise to the level of war, natural disaster, nor personal assault to affect a person profoundly and alter their experiences. Traumatic situations that cause post-trauma symptoms vary quite dramatically from person to person.
